Hit the link for Monday’s show!
A new year and a new resolution to actually stay on top of the recaps! I SWEAR I WAS DEAD LAST WEEK.
The week before I have no excuse for.
But we’re back on track for a few weeks before I disappear again. Up front, I will tell you that I will be traveling and not doing a show Monday the 17th and the following Monday, the 24th. I’ll be in New Orleans on the 17th on a delayed anniversary trip and you’ll probably not even see me on twitter (at my new address @andrew_garda).
However the following week I will be attending Senior Bowl practices with fellow Footballguys/Draftguys Cecil Lammey and Matt Waldman. So I’ll tweet a bunch from there as well as posting video (likely on 87.7 The Ticket’s website - but I’ll let you know about that when I do).
Anyway, it won’t work trying to host a show while I’m there, so rather then cancel, I’m just going to skip. If I can find a replacement host, awesome otherwise, you have the night off.
Covered a lot of ground tonight including:
MORE FAVRE ALLEGATIONS - dude cannot get out of the league quick enough. And out of massage parlors even quicker.
Big East = Big Mess…. at least TCU is coming! GO HORNED FROGS
Orange Bowl bans the bands….. for the Goo Goo Dolls. 1994 called - they don’t want their sucky music back.
We also go over my thoughts on the playoffs - we’ll recap how wrong I was next Monday but for now, here’s how I think it breaks down.
Wild Card Round
NYJ over IND
Bal over KC
NO over Sea
GB over Phi
Division Round
Pit over BAL
NE over NYJ
NO over Chi
Atl over GB
Conference Championship
NE over PIT
ATL over NO
Super Bowl
NE over ATL
Listen in for my thoughts on each but ultimately I think the Jets matchup well with the receivers for the Colts and if Sanchez’s arm holds up, they can win. Baltimore/New Orleans are just too good for KC/Seattle. Green Bay over Philly is a little shaky - it all depends on whose oline holds better. Green Bay has had more issues overall, but the Eagles have struggled protecting Vick on his runs.
I lean towards the better overall QB, though Vick could very well make me eat my words.
Unfortunately my homerism knows limits and I don’t think the Jets could beat New England the following weekend. I think it’s tough to beat Hotlanta at home, I don’t believe in Chicago THAT much and think the Steelers are just enough of a better team to edge a rematch with Baltimore.
I don’t see Pittsburgh beating New England at home and something about the Saints is off enough to where I think they won’t go into the Georgia Dome and steal another win.
And then I just can’t pick against Brady in a Super Bowl when his opposite number is as young as Ryan with little playoff and championship experience.
All that and much more in the show - feel free to email me, hit me on twitter or drop a comment to let me know how horrid my picks are or how brilliant I am.
